It was 9:00 am and I was still in bed wondering what to do and where to go. Woke up early as usual but wasn’t feeling very social, so I decided to skip the organised ride programmed by our wonderful local group and go for a Mar-style ride.
The idea was to enjoy the twisties on the way to Eungella, visit the local markets and then have lunch at Cafe Eden, a lovely spot located in Eden Hills Farm, a regenerative cattle farm at the top of the hill that I found in one of my gazillion interactive maps searching for roads I haven’t explored yet.

The access is easy, zero complications for a sport-touring bike like my beloved Alegrรญa. The detour is on the right-hand side passing Eungella and it’s called Diggings Road. It’s a short descent (2.9 km) on slightly corrugated dirt.
This cafe on wheels opened about a year ago and is ran by Matt, the farm owner, and his wonderful team. They offer a nice range of hot and cold beverages plus a breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered the Eden salad with roasted chicken and, of course, a bowl of chippies.

Down the hill, on the same property, there is a pond where platypuses show up when human activity is low. The walking track is marked with a white drum and there’s enough space to leave the motorbike on the side of the road. A bench and a table are waiting at the pond to enjoy solitude while doing some birdwatching.
